Pension Benefits

Like the 1199SEIU Benefit Funds, the 1199SEIU Pension Funds are fully funded without any member contributions. Employers contribute to the plans as negotiated in our collective bargaining agreements, and the Fund grows those contributions even more through sound investments.

While retirement security for millions of Americans is now at risk with loss of or reduction of pensions, our pension plans remain strong with $9.4 billion in assets.

Again, as with our health benefits, the Pension Funds serve over 200,000 members—primarily in New York City and its Long Island and northern suburbs—and remains the model for what we want to achieve for every 1199SEIU member.
